Like I promised I am posting some behind the scenes images from Timmy & Mason Bennett’s shoot.
Sometimes it is easy and quick catching great moments with children and sometimes it can be a long shoot, have issues to work around, and try your patience. I was very lucky with Mason and did not have any of those problems but I also try to do a few things and stay consistant with them while working with kids to make things go more smoothly.
Firstly, when they are near Mason’s age their parents are still their favorite people in the world - so I try to keep the parents involved, especially more so to a hands on point in the beginning. This lets the kid(s) have fun and start to become relaxed with me, the photographer, around - kids are very observant and can be quite skeptical of this new person walking around pointing this large lens at them. Timmy made sure to get Mason involved in his bubbles, not that Mason needed much convincing when it came to the bubbles lol. I also find that sometimes you may need the parent(s) getting their attention or trying to make them laugh behind you. Sometimes that is all it takes, but when shooting something like the swings it was a nicety to have Clint McKean there to help push Mason.
Furthermore, there are a few other things to be prepared for, or which I prepare for with patience and letting kids just do their thing. There will be tangented moments of curiosity and “ooh what is this?,” there might be wardrobe changes needed as we all know kids get messy - but hey that was the fun of being a kid! And lastly, let them take breaks to play if they want, they are kids and if you want happy pics I say let them have some happy moments in there as well.
Hope you all got a kick out of the out takes, Mason was a blast!
In April of 2012 I did a wonderful and absolutely fun photo shoot with Tim “Timmy” Bennett and his wonderful hellion of a son Mason who I absolutely adore.
We did the shoot at Timmy’s house, making full use of the backyard, Mason’s play-set/sand pit, and then venturing out to the front yard where I also took individual photos of Timmy. Now Timmy doesn’t think he is that photogenic ( and is much like me where I am more relaxed when I am not aware that the lens is gunning for me lol) but I have to completely disagree with him; as obviously shown, he is very, very photogenic and quite the handsome dad.
I made full use of the sun dropping behind Timmy’s house for those front yard images!
Throughout the entire shoot Mason was fabulous. We started in the back yard and let him warm up with some time blowing bubbles with his dad, where he soon needed a wardrobe change. From there the play-set and sand pit was the place to be. Mason took full advantage of having his dad push him on the swing and when I started to become a distraction to him Timmy switched places with my “assistant for the day”, Clint McKean. So, as Clint pushed Mason on the swing Timmy distracted him with funny faces and smacking the photographer, yep me, with a plastic baseball bat (Mason loved it!). Mason then moved on to the slide, followed by filling his Tonka truck with sand, oh and then proceeding to chase me down with that Tonka truck!
Well after a nice dirty, sand-filled hair session Mason got yet another wardrobe change to match his daddy and we all took a break to let Mason have some just kid time as he was catching on to the fact that his every move was being documented with my camera. Clint played baseball with him (getting nailed in the chest), loaded Mason’s gun for him every time he ran out of those orange foam “bullets”, and then played football with him as Mason thought I was a great target for that, several times (I think there’s a pattern emerging lol).
And finally we ended up in the front yard for Timmy’s photos, photo’s of Timmy & Mason together, some tree climbing, more football, and a little rocking out. I’d say the shoot ended on a high note (no pun intended lol) and it was probably one of the most fun shoots of the month. Thank you Mason & Timmy for such a wonderful shoot!

Good Morning & Welcome!
I wanted to say Good morning on this beautiful Sunday and Welcome to my new photography page.
Here I would like to share with you all the amazing photo shoot sessions I get to have with a bit of a story with them, as every shoot seems to have a story and an experience. As they come up I will give you a sneak peak and then they will be there for viewing in my portfolio and I will be adding in older images from shoots here and there to share with you; how I came to love some of those images, what it took to get the final result, and quite simply just to share them with you all!
I will also be creating a pricing section for people as well. I have put this off for years, not sure on how I felt about it but as I get more and more questions regarding it on my website I felt that if it is what the client wants then I am happy to give it to them.
In addition there will be a section for viewing my travel photography (hopefully that will grow more! It at least should with a soon trip to Georgia. Yay!). And there is a link to Etsy where most of those images can be found for purchase.
As always I welcome any feedback/ comments. And quite possibly I will be moving my domain name here if the response is positive enough. I hope you enjoy!
P&L,

(Source: welcome!)
This was a test shoot that Allison Rose Watson and I had decided to do to, as we have intentions of doing enough fashion, hair, and beauty shoots so that the work can be entered into into the NAHA Awards competition.
Our intentions were good the day was beautiful but we were having horrific winds in Vegas that week and as the day progressed they kept picking up more and more. We decided to go ahead and shoot anyway, so I picked up Shaylin Jaquez from her apartment and headed to Allison. We attempted to shoot mainly inside but knew we weren’t getting quite what we were wanting.
Hair was blowing everywhere and we were all frustrated but at the end of the day the shots from outside still became my favorites! Here are some snippets of a couple behind the scenes images as Allison fixes Shaylin’s hair and makeup and Shaylin laughs as we are all basically cursing the wind under our breaths.
